I’m about to move into a decent-sized HMO (England, Harrogate), but the furnishings are really poor quality. They’re functional, but poor. The desk is very small, and the chair is also tiny. There’s also a really strange piece of artwork on the wall, the bedframe is low quality, and the wardrobe is incredibly small with a few grubby stickers on it. There’s only a bedside table that’s keepable and another shelf-type unit, but that’s really it.

The estate agents seems genuinely nice and helpful, with plenty of good reviews, but the room feels like it’s been furnished in a completely random way, or with items left over from previous tenants.

I wouldn’t mind spending several hundred pounds on better furnishings, but what’s the best way to go about this?
