I need some advice on a birthday gift.
I'm a 30M and my friend is a 33F twin. We’ve been platonic friends for 6 years. I found some birthday gifts for her and her sister.. (a make up mirror and a candle, both under $50), from high end brands… the brands mean nothing to me, but Im realizing they can carry weight for women. My intent was just to celebrate my friend on her day, nothing more. On past birthdays I've usually just send a happy birthday text. We hang out regularly, and I'm casually chivalrous (making sure she gets home safe), but I'm like that with all my female friends and family. Idk if I’m overthinking but I now feel maybe this "nice" gift is a step away from our lowkey norm. I'm worried the luxury branding might send the wrong message or make the friendship feel transactional.
So my question is: Is giving the gifts a good gesture, or a bad move with the potential to make things awkward. If I should give the gifts, how to avoid misunderstandings.

Would especially appreciate thoughts from women on how this would land from the receiving end.
