Finland’s previous president gave a nice, snarky answer when asked if there’s something he misses about being president. His answer: “Well, I can’t think of anything.”
His (Sauli Niinistö) style of communication has been described as typical for the region Finland Proper: understated, somewhat sarcastic etc. A story about another ex-president (Mauno Koivisto) states that a politician had met him, then asked someone close to the president if he had interpreted right: he had the impression the president hadn’t 100% liked what he was hearing. The person who knew the president well, said: “Not liked 100%? He was absolutely fuming!”.
I finished [button](https://www.deviantart.com/tereyaglikedi/art/Inktober-2025-Day-22-Button-1256053314) and [firefly](https://www.deviantart.com/tereyaglikedi/art/Inktober-2025-Day-23-Firefly-1256053921) and I’m back on track, though my sleep isn’t 😅
The prompt for Saturday is “inferno” and I don’t know how to fit that into my animal theme. Do I draw a dragon? I kind of don’t want to. I mean I [like](https://www.deviantart.com/tereyaglikedi/art/Dragon-1-929466935) [drawing](https://www.deviantart.com/tereyaglikedi/art/Dragon-2-929467197) [dragons](https://www.deviantart.com/tereyaglikedi/art/Dragon-3-929467439) but [I already drew so many of them](https://www.deviantart.com/tereyaglikedi/art/Inktober-2023-Day-23-Celestial-989867108) and dragons are hardly wildlife. I need ideas.
I had a moment of panic this morning when I thought today might be a bank holiday (since I miss so many of them) but it’s in one week. Phew.
I learned that cats aren’t only super anal about the food that they eat, but also their litter. They have two litter boxes in the house and two in the basement, but they rarely even touch the ones in the house (apparently they like their pooing and living quarters to be different, which is fair). I usually use organic litter made of wood shavings or something, but recently I got a bag of fine clay litter and since I offered that one, they don’t touch the other litter, either. Picky bastards.
This morning I read about the Mbera refugee camp,a camp for refugees fleeing the fighting in Mali.
It’s just across the border,in Mauritania, and is now the third largest ‘city’ in the country, with well over 100,000 inhabitants.. many of whom have been living there for years.
They have almost nothing there, they subsist on rice and some basic emergency foodstuffs.
Not surprising that some immigrants ‘risk everything ‘ to try and reach Europe…
An Autistic man from the UK who worked unpaid at a supermarket was recently sacked because his family asked him to be paid, got a new job. It’s not cool to be taking advantage of people. What a disgrace that company

I was browsing a “what’s your earworm right now” thread this morning, and of course now I’ve caught one too…
Since I play with classic cars I always enjoy having period (and region) correct music on the period correct format in the vehicle. For my late 80s Alfa Romeo I got on the roads a couple of months ago this meant getting an 80s Blaupunkt Paris FM/cassette unit (which might be haram because it’s a German brand, but old Blaupunkts just look great) and I’ve been running around flea markets looking for cassettes. The car now has a great collection of music I imagine some Milanese legal assistant could have had in their preppy Alfa Romeo in the late 80s and early-to-mid 90s.
I’ve got Pino D’Angio, Sabrina Salerno, Dreamland by Black Box, Donna Summer’s (and Giorgio Moroder’s) I Remember Yesterday, some of the early Mariah Carey albums, a Pavarotti compliation set, a cassette that has music from the famous Spaghetti Westerns, and some classical. Yesterday I found Island Life by Grace Jones and Forever Your Girl by Paula Abdul, which are great additions.
Listening to Paula Abdul’s Straight Up, which is such a banger, made me think of Janet Jackson’s album Control. It’s always so highly rated everywhere. I’ve tried listening to it a couple of times, but it never really clicked. Last night I tried again, and once more I just wasn’t feeling it. I truly enjoy a great variety of music, but somehow I just don’t really like most of the new jack swing type music. It’s so dry sounding.
