We’ve both lived here for about 5 years and sort of had issues from the start. She’d let her dog bark incessently for hours outside when I’d be working (she doesnt) and I’d get so frustrated because I’d be on calls or having dinner and then my dog would start going off, I’d open my window and yell once or twice. It got better for a while, my dog passed away so it just sort of tapered off.
We both have 2 year old boys and live right next door so we started becoming more friendly, have playdates now and then, invite to each others birthdays etc. She told me about the preschool her boys love and I signed my son up for part time as well. Great.
We all get buddies when we join the school just to have someone to ask questions to or whatever.
Mine texted me, we went back and forth for a while getting to know each other, she asked if I wanted to grab coffee sometime and I had to decline for other obligations but offered a different day. She didnt get back to me, we went back and forth a little and I just said my schedule was busy but I’d let her know. No worries no issues.
Well my neighbor for some dumb reason took it upon herself to make it her problem and texted me randomly that my buddy told her I wasnt responding back to her about getting together and she had reached out a few times. I responded a day later that I had been very sick but I had responded to this buddy and thanks for the thought.
Since then this neighbor had been up my ass. She literally walked with her son through my yard (unfenced) and up my driveway randomly (we hadnt known until after she was gone as we were inside then saw the Ring notifications). Then we were walking and stopped at an estate sale a few streets down, and she pops up out of nowhere with her son and starts talking to me like we are besties. She asked how I was feeling then randomly cuts me off to ask if I was pregnant. I am and I said this to her as I was surprised, but said its very early and not a lot of people know yet. I’m mad she asked me straight up and caught me off guard and thought its a strange thing to do. She also asked if I was going to an event the school was hosting and I said I couldnt, to which she said I had to and she would come over and drag me out of my house to go and I had to find a babysitter.
Now I see our other neighbor friend is outside her house for a playdate and I’m nervous shes telling her I’m pregnant. I met with our mutual friend the other day and should have told her but I really wanted to wait for my first scan to tell her because I’ve just been feeling anxious this entire pregnancy in general so I’m mad to begin with that the neighbor I dont like knows and might spill the beans, and my actual friend will find out from someone other than me.
How do I go about this with this neighbor thats causing me all this stress?
Tl;dr My next door neighbor is crazy but I have to be friends with her because our kids are the same age and go to the same school.
