If it’s still sore even when you’re aroused, (and I’m assuming you’re tried lube as well?) I’d probably see a doctor just in case. Did you ever have issues with pain in the past? You may have Vaginismus, which can develop at any point for a variety of reasons.
This happened to my ex. I was her first after about a year. Early on, she needed an orgasm from foreplay and lots of lube to be able to take me in all the way. After a few weeks of regular sex, she could happily ride an 8in dildo. Based on that one experience, I would say – take it slow, give it time, lots of foreplay and lube.
