I noticed that a ton of people do this, but I struggle to see the (practical) value of it. Usually it's more fiddly to reverse into a spot (to the point that I see this as more effort even if you just drive off when you leave) and it eats up a ton of time in a busy parking lot. Whereas if you reverse out of a spot you have more room to manoeuvre the car (which is what I see as ideal if reversing). Not that I judge people who do it – I've heard an argument that it's safer for people who might need to leave somewhere quickly – but it baffles me to the point that I have to post about it.

Those of you who like to reverse park, what is your motivation for it?

Edit: interesting that many find it easier to reverse. I don't find one any easier or harder than the other so I didn't think of it on those terms. What I didn't specify, and I should have for clarity, is that I often see people reverse park terribly and take up more than one spot in doing so.
