I purchased a car from a private seller two weeks ago, paying half by bank transfer and half in cash. Today, I discovered that the logbook (new keeper document) he provided is fake. When I tried to contact him, I found he has blocked me everywhere. I also realized the address he gave me, where we met, was false—he doesn’t live there. I’ve reported the issue to the DVLA and a consumer advisor, but they haven’t been very helpful.
What do you suggest I do in this situation? I have the bank details where I deposited the payment. If I report this to the bank, they might be able to hold the transferred amount, but I want to pursue the seller. I don’t mind incurring some costsI want to hold him accountable because this was my hard-earned money.
Thanks
