I spent all of my 20s either in school or working full time. Even though I started making real money once I started my first ever big-boy job, I never had the time to travel all that much. Maybe only a few weeks every year, which was enough for one or two trips abroad.
Now, I'm currently in between jobs. And I wonder if now might be a good time to spend a few months seeing the world. The way I see it:
-
I'm no longer beholden to any company or organization
-
I have a decent pile of money saved up
-
I've resented "missing out on having fun in my youth" even though I'm not exactly old
-
And I got mentally burned out on the regular-ness and mediocrity of the office grind, and I need a challenging adventure
Given all that, would now be a particularly good time for me to travel? Would that be a good idea, as opposed to immediately jumping back on the horse and seeking out a new job?
Has anyone else ever done this or considered doing this? What happened? How did it go?
