Hi everyone,
I’m in my mid-20s and I’d love to hear from people in their 30s who’ve been through this stage.
Right now, I feel torn between two paths:
On one side, moving out, living on my own, enjoying freedom, building new social experiences, and getting out of my comfort zone, even if it means spending more and saving less.
On the other side, staying in a more stable setup where I can save a lot of money, build a financial cushion, and prepare for things like buying a home or settling down later, but at the cost of still living with my parents, having less independence, and missing out on some experiences.
I worry that if I play it safe, I’ll regret not fully experiencing my late 20s. But I also worry that if I choose freedom and spend more, I’ll enter my 30s without much to show financially.
For those of you already in your 30s: looking back, what do you wish you had prioritized more in your 20s, financial stability or independence/experiences?
P.S. For context, I’m not from a Western country, and my medical training means I’m starting my independent life a bit later than most—so this decision feels extra significant.
Thanks in advance.
