We dated from 2019 to 2020, and broke up peacefully in June 2020, mainly due to personality incompatibility. We kept being friends, and chatted now and then, usually about work etc. Maybe once in every two or three months, I would say.
From the end of 2021, I started to see a new guy, he is several years older than me, with a pretty well-established career, properties, etc. (My ex bf is of a similar age to me, and we are more equal in terms of financial status)
During a chit-chat in 2022, I shared something with him about the new guy I was dating. He just said to me, 'Why does he want to date you if he is rich?'
It didn't hurt me too much back then, but after several months, this new guy broke up with me with no reason, blocked me, and dated another girl immediately; it made me wonder whether he had never seen me as an equal partner; I just felt sad. (I didn't use his money or ask for expensive gifts, but he insisted on paying for almost all dates). This breakup had a very bad impact on my mental status, also impacted on my job back then, I almost got depression in Covid lock-down.
Fast forward to 2025, and I am in a very stable relationship now; I am truly happy. Somehow, I realized these words really hit my self-esteem, and I have never recovered from this.
