  1. It’s hot in the desert, who would have known? 😉

I visited the famous Atlas studios in Ouarzazate.Quite interesting they have sets, props etc. used for some famous movies, like Gladiator, The Mummy,Ben Hur, the Passion of Christ etc.

Actually a lot of movies set in Egypt, apparently the bureaucracy there is much more difficult to deal with,so they shoot in the Moroccan desert instead… they have huge sets replicating Egyptian temples, pyramids etc.

Even some movies that are quite unexpected, like Kundun.. there’s a big Tibetan temple set !

There’s also a complete medina which has been used in lots of different movies and TV shows, and a fake ‘desert castle’ that was constructed for Game of Thrones.

  2. I read that the price of “Deutschlandticket” is going to increase again. It is anyway not that great for people who take the train occasionally (like myself) since they have weird rules about when you can quit etc, but I think if they increase it even further, it is only going to be reasonable for commuters whose employer covers part of the cost. I miss the 9-Euro ticket 🥲

After yesterday’s heavy topics, I think we should up the game even a little further and talk about things that really matter… Which are sandwiches, of course. There’s a Korean cooking channel I like, and yesterday there was a post with [different sandwiches](https://youtu.be/Khm_ViWsJgc?si=7w2MavigfgoCgxod) (you don’t really need to watch, the thumbnail is enough). I think they look spectacular, but my husband says they’re way overfilled and impossible to eat. I think that’s nonsense, and I’d rather unhinge my jaw like a snake and eat one of these than one of those dry two slices of bread, one slice of cheese concoctions my Dutch colleagues used to eat every single lunch for their entire lives (no, there’s nothing in between. This is the internet).

Another question! Do you guys give money to buskers? I guess for me it depends. If they’re busking and not demanding, and I really like the music, maybe.

  3. I just finished reading a 12-book long series yesterday (He Who Fights Monsters by Shirtaloon) and I now have this: *”What am I supposed to do with my life now?”* feeling. It’s always hard to pick the next thing to start after you’ve been reading something for the last few months.

  4. You ever think about what life is like in some random ass country like Timor-Leste or the Central African Republic? I know absolutely nothing about those places. Like, what the fuck even goes on there? There’s so many countries you never think about. I had to google what the demonym for Central African Republic is, and it’s just Central African. Big disappointment. I hoped it would have been Central African Republican.

Almost a decade ago I made an arrangement of the jazz standard Moonlight in Vermont for solo guitar which I still play, I really love that song and it’s just fun to play. In this arrangement I used a very specific resolution when going from the B-part back to A, and it’s just my favourite. I always try to use it in something I’m composing, but it never seems to fit anywhere as nicely as it does Moonlight in Vermont.
