What are some odd food trends your country had/has?

it used to be common to eat a lot of smoked meat and cheese. I think we are the only country in the europe where the most widespread type of cancer is intestinal
I’ve lost touch with reality when it comes to food. Everything is so international now, I dont know if we really have any trends of our own, that isnt happening elsewhere. Not that we dont have uniquely Swedish cuisine, we even have our own type of pizza style, but that came in the past, not in 2025.
All the trends going feel like they are happening because theyve blown up on Tiktok or something. We are at least seeing quite a few Mexican cuisine restaurants open, serving birria and all types of authentic Mexican food, which we didn’t really have just a few hears ago. We’ve had texmex at home since the 80s or 90s, but not real Mexican restaurants.
Sadly husmanskost or authentic Swedish cuisine restaurants is becoming rarer and rarer since its mostly immigrants that open up new restaurants, which is great, but its not husmanskost.
Penne alla vodka were very trendy in the 80s in Italy. Now they are a symbol of the Italian cuisine of that period, with the omnipresent single cream, and not appreciated anymore. Surprisingly they are very popular in US.

There are a lot of different flavours, the one I linked is ham & cheese
We still eat frogs and snails.
And we are always stealing the cuisine of all of our neighbors (*) and claim ours is better.
* except the Brits.
