Guys, how do you handle credit card debt after divorce? I'm stuck with nearly $88k in high-interest debt from a bad marriage. The APRs alone are wrecking me.
33M, recently divorced. No kids, just a pile of credit card balances I didn’t rack up plus terrible credit. One maxed line of credit. My ex had expensive tastes. It started with low interest rate debt, then got riskier and riskier. Her monthly beauty spend blew past 1k monthly. It was really hard for me to say no without feeling broke.
Now she’s gone, and the bills are still here. I’m trying to stay afloat and not let the resentment eat me too. I’ve been looking into debt relief programs, Freedom Debt Relief looks solid. Bankruptcy looks solid
Anything to stop the bleeding and consolidate into something manageable.
If you’ve been through something similar, what worked for you? Is debt relief actually legit, or am I just setting myself up for another hit? What’s the best way to tackle this and not go insane?
I make okay money now (75k annually), but I need to get out of this hole.
What’s worked for you guys after divorce?
Don’t rip into me too hard. The bandaid was ripped off pretty recently…
