I'm from Venezuela, a country that's full of stray animals suffering in the streets. I do this thing where I rescue one or two at a time and find homes for them because otherwise they would have died. Now, I'm poor, but I always manage to feed them and get them healthy little by little.
The thing is, I've been attacked here on Reddit multiple times, people telling me stuff like "why do you get dogs if you're poor? You can't afford a dog!!!", as if it's better to let them die on the streets.
Is this because Americans/Europeans don't understand what a stray dog is? Do you buy all of the dogs you have? Does the government rescue all stray animals there?
