I was out biking yesterday… Unfortunately I haven’t been putting in enough kilometres this year and my ass has gone all soft and mushy. But I managed 60 km, even though it was a bit painful in the end. And the good thing is, many of the roadside apple trees are ripe now (not all, another tour is needed in two weeks).
There was an info board saying that planting fruit trees along roads started after the 30-years war. That is 400 years ago! Well done Germans for still keeping the tradition up. Some trees looked very old (though I don’t think they’re 400 years). I should read what the 30 year war was about. I just know that in the end the farmers were just slaying whoever tried to tresspass.
I even got some boskoop, which is perfect for pie and crumble.
I started watching this film called Radioactive yesterday, which is a biopic of Marie Curie. God those old chemistry labs make me cringe. Open flames, no goggles or gloves, no time extraction… But okay. The film is… Well, just go read Marie Curie’s Wikipedia page, it’s much more interesting. I clicked off after half an hour.
Yesterday we walked down along the coast and sand dunes to Diabat, where we visited both the ‘Jimi Hendrix Café ‘ and the ‘Castles in the Sand ‘.
Apparently Jimi stayed here for a while in the late 60s, when it was a hippy hangout.
There’s one great old abandoned palace.. you can go inside, though there’s not much left apart from walls, doorframes etc..it’s half buried under the sand, no-one around at all.Quite interesting to explore!
Have you heard of jailception? A photo popped up on reddit where jailed Turkish presidential candidate Imamoglu was being defended by his lawyer, who was also in jail (he had to use video conferencing). The jailed lawyer had to hire another lawyer who was also promptly jailed (I heard he’s been released for now).
Manse PP which is the pesäpallo or Finnish baseball club that plays in Tampere won the championship in the women’s league yesterday, and they won the men’s league too this year. Reading these news made me realise that I didn’t go to see a pesäpallo game this summer either, I’ve been meaning to for a few years now. I just always forget and then it’s autumn already.
Oh well, maybe next summer. I used to really like playing pesäpallo at school in PE class, but I’ve never been to watch a pro game.
