I (a naturalized US citizen) was telling a friend about how dating works where I'm from. It's one of the African countries so it's conservative.

Most teens still aren't allowed to date by parents there. Generally most parents frown at dating until after you complete high school; some don't even permit it if you're in the first 1-2 years of college.

Obviously, it's different here in the US and people start dating earlier than that. But the question is: is there a specific age where most parents feel their kids becomes "okay"? If so, what's that age? 14? 16?

PS: some friends here have also told me about their experiences where they started dating in early school (though I'm not sure whether that counts as actual dating?)…
