There’s this girl I knew for a few years. We occasionally talked, mostly on text, since we live far apart.
Last year, I told her I liked her. She rejected me and asked me to block her, and she blocked me too. I moved on.
I have this quirky habit of using blocked chats as a kind of mental junk box. Recently, one of those “self-talk” scribbles suddenly delivered, because she had unblocked me. I clarified that it was just a notepad scribble (Chat attached in the end).
She said she had unblocked everyone, but that doesn't quite add up, since my second WhatsApp number (blocked at the same time) is still blocked.
I’m not looking to approach her again, but out of curiosity I want to understand the psychology behind this:
- Why would someone unblock a person they clearly don’t want contact with?
- If it was just a “general cleanup,” why bother replying to my junk note at all?
- Why over-justify, when I’d already clarified that it was just a notepad scribble, not meant for her?
Again, this is just out of inquisitiveness, not an attempt to re-initiate contact.

Me (1:54 am):
Left *** even after conversion. Don’t know what has happened to me, why am I leaving prestigious institutions.
Her (6:05 am):
??
Me (10:31 am):
Didn’t expect to be unblocked. I’ve just been using this chat like a notepad. You can block again if that keeps things simpler.
Her (12:28 pm):
Actually I didn’t just unblock you, I had unblocked everyone from my block list.

Use a notepad next time
Selective unblocking is common for curiosity, closure, or a quick temperature check, and her short reply reads like simple courtesy not renewed interest; take it at face value and move forward.
Probably did it just to fuck with you
While that may be true, she could be lying. Like other said could be closure, could be her wanting to check up on your life. You never know. I had sometging similar happen. Nothing came out of it.
You are overthinking, trying to see something that is not there. Let it go, man.
