I've been homeschooled for years so of course I don't have any in person friends. I don't want to ask to go to an actual school because I know I'm really dumb and I also know I will 200% get bullied. I'm really awkward in person and I don't really know how to start conversations. I don't know what kind of places I could go to make friends, every place I go it's always people either way older than me or way younger than me. I've never had any long lasting friendships irl. I really want to try going to a cosplay convention, though I feel like I need to make a cosplay first which I want to do but I'm not sure if my family can afford the tools for it. Please help. Going on reddit to say any of this was my last option but I don't know what else to do.

I’m guessing that you’re a high school student, yes?
Do you have a drivers license?
I homeschooled my two kids, here’s where they had friends: neighborhood, church, sports teams, clubs, activities, volunteer work, and “the homeschool group.”
The way to make friends is to have conversations, to get to know people, to give them some info about yourself, to talk to people regular, and then to INVITE THEM to do something with you.
That’s how you get started.
