Years ago, I used to be REALLY good at remembering people's names. And every time I did, I could tell it genuinely made people feel seen and made me come off as more likable!

But recently that skill has been fading, so for the past couple years I've been trying to find a fool-proof way to remember names, and this week I've finally found something that works!

Here's the process:
1. As soon as I hear the person's name, I say it as many times as the conversation will allow – for example, if someone says "Hey, my name is Alex," I would say "Hey Alex, nice to meet you." And then at the end of the conversation, I'd also say, "Well, Alex, it was great, I'll see you around." (This makes sure I remember the name right after the conversation ends.)

  1. Then once I'm done talking, I pull out my phone and write their name down in my notes app – I find that typing it helps me remember things way better, plus it lets me look back over it later.

  2. And now to make sure I don't just have a list of names, I do a little mental exercise. For 5 seconds, I imagine the person's face, with the name floating above their head. Sometimes I even imagine a play on words for their name ex. I met a guy named Prince, so I imagined him wearing a crown. This helps me match the face to the name for the next time I see them!

I've been trying to get better at this for a WHILE now and this has by far given me the best results! I hope it helps you guys, too! 🙂

Btw, do you guys feel like your memory is getting worse or is that just a me thing?
