It's time for me to find some new underwear and the options have exploded in recent years (partially due to the separating pouch segment) and I'm frankly tired of wasting time and money and want some input.

The challenge… does anybody else feel they're practically sitting on their boys when driving? It doesn't happen when sitting on a couch or office chair, but getting into low slung car allows the boys to fall down between the thighs and if it's more than a short drive I notice the pressure squashing them is making me uncomfortable. The current workaround is I sometimes do sort of a little upward thrust to toss the boys up as I sit down so they land on top of my thighs, OR more often (because the toss failed, or I simply forgot), just reaching down in there and making an adjustment. I'd prefer not to do that, especially when there's a passenger.

For reference, I'm average height, slim, slightly athletic build, average package size. I'm currently in Hanes Comfort Cool mesh boxer briefs, which I stumbled into when I found myself out of town with no luggage at 11PM and bought whatever, and was pleasantly amazed at how nice the tiny mesh was on hot summer days.

So far I've unsuccessfully tried 2, sort of. Some Hanes "total support pouch" boxer briefs, but accidentally got the long leg version and the waistband was too tight for the size and I ditched them before fully evaluating the driving, but it didn't seem promising. The other is CalvinKlein boxer briefs that have more of a pouch shape and do give more support but turned out not to have any internal flap and still allows the same problem.

I searched around in r/MensUnderwearGuide but it has too many fanatics and brand representatives to get a practical answer. And I don't mean cheap, I'm not opposed to $20 pair if they work well.

Other factors and non-factors…

Fly opening? I don't use it, but don't mind if it's there. The perfect pair wouldn't have one, since extra fabric reduces airflow.

BULGING! I'm not looking to show off my package. Some of the pouch brands are marketed toward showcasing a protrusion. That looks uncomfortable and would be inappropriate for my work environment.

No double pouch. There are next level pouches that separate even the frank from the beans. That's too much.

Fabrics. I'm not picky here, just not all cotton. Cotton blends are fine, synthetics are fine. Opinions on sweating, wicking, nylon, polyester, cotton, etc are varied and usually fail to factor in all the nuances anyway. Mesh is a + though.

Longevity. I'd hope it's a brand that will be around again in a few years when I need replace the next set. I have little idea of what the attrition and consolidation is with all the new brands and who might be around later. Then again, even with something like Hanes, they just can't leave a basic product alone, and constantly rebrand lines and features. The model I bought just a few year ago isn’t there, and reading reviews of the closest analog show people complaining that what they currently buy has different seam/panel designs from what on the website. Overall it's just too many options to sort through and that’s a big part of why I'm asking. Thanks!
