I (27f) went on a first date this week with a guy (m28) I met out at a bar who asked me out after talking all night. A week later He picked me up, took me to a restaurant near me, and we ended up closing the place down — we were there talking from 7 until 11. He was really polite, asked good questions, and I genuinely enjoyed myself. We had a lot of laughs and found we had a lot in common.

When he dropped me off, he said “this was fun” and I headed inside. No kiss, which threw me off a little because I thought there was chemistry.

As soon as he got home though, he texted: “Thanks for going out! I had a lot of fun talking to you tonight.” I responded late that night with: “Thanks for the drinks and the ride! I had a really great time too.” Then this morning around 8 AM, he gave it a heart reaction. It’s only noon the next day, but I’m just wondering — was his text genuine interest, or just being polite? Would someone say that if they didn’t want a second date? Do you think he’ll text again?
