I find when I try to explain anything involving more than a couple of sentences to people it seems like their eyes just glaze over and they start going "uh huh. uh. yeah so anyway-". I know I get way too wrapped up in details that aren't all that important or could be answered with a followup question if asked, but how exactly does one keep people engaged in these situations and figure out what the vital details even are? I don't really get nervous when all eyes are on me, it's just that I "can't see the forest for the trees". Any tips are welcome, thanks in advance
