I am quite an overthinker so please give me some grace if you find me annoying or this isn't a 'real problem', I apologize in advance for my lack of social skills.
I moved to a new city a few years ago, recently I saw on IG that someone I went to elementary and high school decades ago with moved to my city. We weren't friends at all back then but knew of each other. I was quiet and she was a popular cheerleader. I reached out to her offering to meet up since I know how daunting moving somewhere new can be and now we're working adults it's hard to make friends. I also just wanted to go out of my comfort zone but now I'm not so sure I want to keep initiating social ineractions with anyone. We hung out once alone and once with both of our partners.
After our first hang out just the two of us she seemed pretty good, she offered to invite me over and stuff. Fast forward to our second hang out as a double date (all 4 of us are from the same high school and elementary school as well, small hometown), since then she's been radio silence. Maybe she didn't like my partner?
We didn't hang out for 3 months, just liking her IG stories and she liked some of mine. Randomly my partner and I were walking on the street and bumped into her and her partner, we had a quick 5 min chat and I said we should hang out soon. She seemed nice during the interaction but could be fake. A
fter going home I texted her that we should hang out again. She said 'sounds good!' and a month later haven't heard from her but she's been active on social media. She posted a picnic on her story so I replied that we should do one and she just liked my messaged with no further response. I'm going to stop reaching out now since I feel like I'm bothering her and she doesn't want to hang out, I got the message loud and clear. That's fine, but I'm wondering why? Was it something I said? Did she not like my partner? Did her partner not like me? She was so nice at the start, texting me often, offering to bake for me, etc., and now she's more settled in maybe she made new friends but she acts like she doesn't know me.
