Often on TV shows, when a pizza is bought for dinner it’s one pizza, which is shown as feeding up to four people.

When my family buy pizza, it’s four pizzas, one for each person. We’ll always uses vouchers to bring the heavily inflated cost down and each person will have their pizza over 2 or 3 days.

What is your people to pizza ratio? For me it’s 1:1

Edit – in my case we buy large pizzas.

  1. How big is a pizza?

Usually when I have takeaway with friends we just order for ourselves.

  2. Large? 1-1.5:1 depending how hungry. Rarely more than a slice or two left for later

  3. I’m a pesky vegetarian so always have one to myself. We do similar in my family. I think American pizzas are bigger anyway

Slightly related (but not really): my first job was at my local Domino’s, working on the phones. Every time I picked up the phone, I had to say “hello thank you for calling Domino’s, home of the new hot dog stuffed crust. My name is abacabba, how can I help you today?” What a mouthful

Some great stories from that place, even if I was only on £3.68ph. Awful creepy drivers, but one of my colleagues was quite full of himself “everybody loves a man in uniform”. Not a man in dominos uniform, Jake

  4. I mean, this entirely depends on what pizzas you’re buying surely?

If you’re buying the large Dominos/Pizza hut takeaway style then I’d say that one large pizza for two people is plenty, especially if you have sides as well. Maybe three between two if you want leftovers.

If you’re having the sort of pizza you’d get in an Italian restaurant, or even chains like Pizza Express or Ask, then one per person is about right.

  5. A large pizza between two of us would be our regular order. Though sometimes we’ll get two medium pizzas if we wanted some leftovers for the morning!

  6. ~100-110 square inches of pizza per person. So a 12″ or about two thirds of a 14 inch. Generally it’s the latter with leftovers for breakfast.

  7. A large Domino’s isn’t that large. Max 2 people for one. 15 inches or more is yank movie/TV large. That can do 3 or more people, assuming you’re like drinking at the same time, so not looking to get stuffed.

  8. If I want leftovers, a large pizza per adult. If I don’t want leftovers, a medium pizza per adult.

  9. I order for one person usually, one large pizza and two sides from dominos. After eating the sides I’m too full for pizza so that serves my next four meals.

Most of the time I’ll just pick up a supermarket pizza instead of spunking money on eating reheated pizza for that many meals, if I’m being sensible I’ll eat half the pizza and have the rest for lunch the next day.

  10. I usually make pizza and it’s one each about 12 inch, not particularly round

  11. our regular order for 2 people is:
    1 14in* pizza
    6 spicy wings
6in cheesy garlic bread (we don’t order this, they throw it in for free)

we usually eat the sides and half of the pizza, and save the remainder for the next day.

*this used to be a 16in but i’ve been intentionally losing weight.

  12. dominos large? one each, with left overs for tomorrow. Papa johns XXL also one each and also with left overs just a bit more.
costco pizza? then one pizza for 2 people

  13. 1 large (dominos) pizza per person. There will usually be a slice or 2 spare for the next day.

  14. We get a 14 inch between two of us with a large chips. I don’t usually finish my half so leftovers for lunch the following day.

  15. 1 pizza (with 1/2 sides) – 3 people
That’s four slices each and not a big fan of leftovers.

  16. Today I cooked three frozen pizzas for four people, plus six homemade pitta pizzas. Two teens had already had lunch because they couldn’t wait twenty minutes for pizza. It all went.

That said, a frozen pizza is maybe 10″? and a delivered large pizza can be 14″ or above. Something something maths and there’s a lot more pizza in that outer four inches than it looks.

One large pizza is only enough for a group if they’re not really eating, or it’s one of many dishes.

  17. Slightly related: At Amazon they think the ideal team size is a ‘two pizza team’ – i.e. they can feed the entire team with two pizzas. Of course, that’s American sized pizzas.

  18. 2 people to one large pizza means it will all be consumed for certain – assuming it’s a rare treat then I prefer to push the boat out and do 1:1.

  19. It depends. Homemade meal, pizza plus salad? I eat half a basic thin crust frozen pizza, and prep 2/3 of one for my husband (with extra toppings).

Takeaway pizza? 1:1 – I paid for filth, and I’m not sharing, even if it takes me all evening to finish one.

  20. If a 12″, then one pizza between 2 people. Or between 3 people if we have side dishes.

One time, a friend invited me round “for pizza” and I was horrified when I saw that she’d only got one 12″ pizza between seven of us — SEVEN!! I said something as tactfully as I could, like “You could have said, and I’d have put some money in for another pizza for all of us” and she replied that it would be too much pizza to get two pizzas, because we also had salad.

A couple of slices of cucumber and tomato did not fill me up. One slice of pizza is not a meal.

  21. I don’t share food. My pizza is mine, if you can’t eat a full pizza and don’t want to get one all for yourself, that a problem you have to deal with. Not me!

One large pizza on its own usually isn’t enough for me anyway and I’d need sides too. I walked 29,000 steps on shift yesterday; if anyone thinks I’m coming home to share food with them then they are sadly mistaken!

  22. I’ll eat a large dominos in one sitting. If it’s a supermarket pizza I’ll usually have chicken wings/strips too
