I met someone online 2 years ago through a project doubt on social media. We stayed in touch casually, had some deep convos, shared life stuff. I always kept things respectfu,a bit playful, just a good connection.
We both tried to know each other in our own ways.
’m a naturally playful person — when I get a good vibe from someone, I open up more casually. But a few months back, after one convo where I (probably) pushed too much for clarity when she seemed distant, her tone toward me completely changed.
Even simple or playful messages started getting cold replies — things like “why?” or “don’t act dumb.” I pulled back, stopped giving advice or asking anything personal, but things still felt cold.
One day she asked me to delete our entire 2-year chat history, saying she didn’t want flashbacks or regrets. I said I still saw those chats positively, but out of respect, I deleted everything.
Since then, I’ve tried to keep it light or friendly, but I always sense distance. She’s even called me “immature” a few times maybe out of frustation or xyz.
Her POV: Maybe I unknowingly made her uncomfortable or crossed boundaries emotionally.
My POV: I thought I was just being a good listener and a lighthearted friend, never disrespectful.
Not sure if I misread the vibe, was too available, or just tried too hard to fix things.
Would love some perspective.
