I (m/18) have been observing lately, that people who behave slightly transgressive, who arouse attention by making silly jokes or just throwing in some banter are generally just making friends/finding relationships the easiest.
And now I'm here wondering, if I'm doing everything wrong by being too friendly/polite/reserved. Don't get me wrong, I DO joke around with people (also on account of other people), but I only feel comfortable doing so with people whom I know will not take it the wrong way.
I know the theory behind humor, that it makes people happy to be around you and so on. I can't seem to behave this way though. I'm not the guy to constantly pull all the attention, but like 90% of people I've met seem to value this kind of people, which I can't really be mad about because some of them are indeed quite funny.
I really value my personality and who I am, but I seem to be unsuited for this social game of who's the funniest, the loudest, the most transgressive. The vast minority of people I'm acquainted with would choose me over the funny guy. It's honestly just sickening.
