Since around 2020, I’ve been encountering an issue that whenever I message people on social media (Discord, Reddit, Instagram, Facebook, etc.), they often ignore me or even block me.
For example, just a few days ago I messaged someone to ask about a GIF they posted (it was in Spanish, and Google Translate wasn’t helping). Instead of just explaining, they treated me like I was being creepy and blocked me eventually.
Another one was when I messaged a person about their Minecraft project, and they responded by insulting me and accusing me of stalking them.. Situations like this happen a lot… To the point that I'm just scared of asking simple questions online.
Do people just not want to talk to strangers anymore? Or is there something wrong with the way I message others? I’m genuinely trying to be friendly and curious, but the responses or nonresponses are just… I feel really bad like something is about me.
I also have autism, but I don't see anything wrong with my messages. Has anyone else encountered it?
