What happens is that my way of dealing with a future confrontation or a difficult conversation I have to have, or if even I have to call someone's attention, is to go into overthinking mode. I can't get out of this mode, thinking that I will be able to find the best strategy or the right words, but in reality I am just trying to control what I don't know. I don't know how the person will react, nor what their responses will be. And yes, I understand that there are ways to talk about it, let's start from the point that I do so with the utmost politeness and respect possible. But how do I change my focus? Do I really have to accept that I need to listen to the other person and see how it goes? That advice alone doesn't work for me.
