In today’s science news, [RFK Jr seems to have made a demand for a Danish paper finding no link between aluminium in vaccines and autism in children to be retracted.](https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-025-02682-9) For the record, paper retractions are very very rare and usually only happen if fraud or severe misconduct has been detected. This nutter having the audacity to make such a demand is just insane. I have never ever seen such a thing in my life. I haven’t read RFK’s “opinion piece” and I won’t, but it is really sad for research in the US, which in turn is sad for the entire world since the US is in the forefront of research. Or, well, used to be. He’s already cancelling grants for vaccine studies, which is bad for all of us. How do people put up with this shit? I want to smack his fucking face.
It’s Monday and barely just 8 am and I am already pissed. Maybe I should have a breakfast popsicle. A while ago, a biotech company sent us a pack of different popsicles (you know the ones in plastic tubes that you put in the freezer, and then tear open with your teeth and suck? My mom used to get so mad at us when we bought them as kids. She thought they’re full of chemicals, and well, she was right). Unfortunately it’s not really been hot enough to enjoy them. This morning it’s not even ten degrees, but maybe a cola-flavored popsicle would be good for cooling my poor brain.
ETA: by the way, his reasoning was that the study “did not compare vaccinated and unvaccinated children to determine whether any aluminium exposure causes harm”. What were they going to do, not vaccinate children as a control group? Oh for fuck’s sake.
