Bit of a question to gauge how much other people in Europe trust local authorities to produce quality projects based upon informed analysis of necessity.

My neighbourhood started a new big landscaping project. It was right after the municipality leadership changed, and it ripped up the modifications the last one did (shitty metal fencing everywhere) to put it new paved alleyways, new sprinkler systems and pulled up all the ground. I am heavily proponent to think that it was just a new money making scheme/project, as the changes weren't really necessary and it was done without real on the ground consultation. Pathways were adjusted without consideration for foot traffic, benches were removed, existing landscaped vegetation was ripped out and trampled and so far not replaced with anything (the project's not over yet though).
