So in Sweden we of course learn Swedish as the main language and then English as the second language. If you do ok in English class you are usually ”forced” to choose a third language. Generally it has been a choice between German, French or Spanish (may have changed the last 15+ years. I’ve heard some rumors about some schools allowing mandarin or Arabic as well but I’m not sure if it’s true). Then, if you have a different mother language than Swedish – you are also allowed to study that one as a fourth language (voluntary, unlike the three other).
