I want to dye my hair black. I’ve tried Garnier Olia before in shade 3.0 Soft Black and it did not work.
I used two boxes for my thick medium length hair, but none stuck. After 2 months my hair was back to natural colour. I want a permanent solution that I’ll only have to worry about my roots.
It’s been a long time since I dyed my hair at home and I’m not sure what I did wrong. I used to use Schwarzkopf but remember hearing they’re a bad brand to use.

I’m on a budget hence why I’m using box dye instead of going to a salon. So using cheap ish shampoo and conditioner(the blue tresemme). Willing to change brands of shampoo/conditioner.
Any other subs that might know the answer please lmk. Thanks all🥰

  1. I like nice and easy box dyes, always work for me! I went black a couple of years ago, it did not fade.

  2. Whilst I have never dyed my hair, I did work in boots for a while and Schwarzkopf LIVE Color XXL black seemed to be favourite with those with black hair.

  3. I use Clairol Nice and Easy, No 83 to cover up greys (a lot of them) on my naturally very dark hair.

    Pretty dark without going too into that black-blue look. It’s technically semi-permanent but that means nothing when it comes to dyes this dark, and I personally find the permanent ones are the ones that always look really unnatural.
