Hiya everyone,

My fiancé has an appointment at a sleep clinic in September for chronic sleep issues and I was just wondering how it’s going to go.

What will happen on the first appointment? We assume it’s going to take more than one and they won’t be getting him to stay over or anything after the first appointment but we’ve no idea what to expect.

If it helps, his issues are that he cannot sleep past 5/6am, despite being knackered all the time, he falls asleep like literally drops off while we’re watching films (sometimes in the afternoon time on a weekend), we read before bed and he drops off during this too and honestly, his sleep quality is absolutely dreadful.

He used to suffer issues falling asleep but they’ve resolved themselves (for now) as he’s just so exhausted by the time we go to bed (which isn’t late at all) and he hits a tiredness wall most nights around 8.30/9 and he can barely do anything because he just wants to sleep.

It even affects how he feels in himself – he goes for a walk with our sprocker (1.5-2hrs) and his legs ache afterward (which is semi-normal) but not to the extreme that he suffers and he’s permanently sniffly which we think is because of the terrible sleeps and he just feels so poor in himself you know. It’s been going on too long so we really hope it can be resolved or at least we can know what it is!

I’m hoping the sleep clinic will unearth something as the drs have been unable to – his bloods are okay and they’re at a loss what it is. The dr mentioned sleep apnea but he isn’t overweight and doesn’t excessively drink or anything.

We’re just looking for some experiences really on what’s going to happen and how long it’s likely to take (though piece of string rings a bell!!)

Thank you!
