What do you think of the cheaper carbon replacement filters that save you £30 a time on the filter system fitted to your tap?

At just a third of the price, they seem tempting, assuming they fit. But are they a liability?

Very annoying that the kitchen fitters recommended these things without telling us how much it would cost to replace the cartridges every 6 months.
