I've been listening to a BBC podcast about Linda Calvey the so called "Black Widow" who was an armed robber in the 1970s and 80s and now writes books about armed robbery.

She was called the "Black Widow" because, as a police officer put it, "every bloke she's ever had eves with has ended up dead or in prison." In context "to have eves with" must mean to have sex or a relationship. Maybe I'm spelling it wrongly or misheard it but I can't find anything online to explain this phrase. Have I got it right? What's the origin of this phrase?
