We managed to find some ‘wild’ bison yesterday, they are very cool animals!
More forest hiking today, hopefully it won’t rain.
This part of Poland is really nice, hardly any foreign tourists but some Polish and Baltic ones… kind of off the beaten track by European standards.
We are very near to Belarus. But won’t be popping over the border.
I had this dream that we were going to Denmark by ferry (which, you know, why not). As we neared the harbor it was this amazing Arctic city and the ferry sailed through a layer of ice even. Then the captain announced that we should hold tight because apparently in order to enter the harbor we needed to turn 275 degrees (I don’t know how). But the ship was something like a submarine, because we didn’t get wet and the underwater views were beautiful. There were some large black flat fish and lots of whales.
Then I got up and had to clean scoot marks from the floor because the small cat ate too much grass again. 😞
One of my internet friends sent me the link to a story with you need to read this in all capital letters. I was a bit surprised because she’s usually extremely picky and doesn’t read much free indie fiction. It was a short story about Bruckner and Wagner. It turns out that those were indeed good friends, and Bruckner’s third symphony contained elements of Tristan and Isolde. But due to bad luck Bruckner had to conduct the symphony on his own, and the premiere was a bit of a disaster. Someone wrote a story about this and it is just incredible. I am amazed we get to read such stuff, which would never be published as a book, and for free. It was one of the most beautiful stories I ever read about music.
Some Germans seem to think that ! and ? are the only punctuation marks. “Hello, I am writing to inquire if these pigments you’re selling are pure or if they have added fillers.” “They’re pure pigments!” “Hello, would you please let me know if you have a free table for 19?” “There are free tables! How many people?” “Hello, is it possible to postpone our appointment by half an hour?” “No problem, we can postpone it!” It is sometimes hard to read the tone, so I just assume that if they have a problem, they’ll tell me.
Is anyone following the [World Games](https://live.theworldgames.org) going on right now? They’re basically like the Olympic Games of lesser known sports, from Tug of War via Ultimate Frisbee to Wakeboarding. I’m currently watching Field Archery, which is like normal archery, except that the targets aren’t in a straight line right in front of the archers, but to the side, up or down a slope, in different distances etc. Very interesting (and not “exciting” enough that you can easily have the stream running in the background)
