This is a 2 parter, hopefully other folks get something out of this.
At a high level- having a very hard time meeting people; I’m not in a city, not exactly near enough to one where going there for my fill of dating is reasonable, and the conventional channels of meeting folks haven’t yielded results (by this I mean; friends/friends of friends, bars/clubs, online dating, hobbies, speed dating/“singles events”.
Part 1 of the question- a suggestion has been made to me to volunteer at an animal shelter. I don’t like this option because 1. That to me is like just picking up a second job 2. There’s zero guarantee that I’ll meet folks my age looking to date, and I’m not even sure I’d say it’s likely (I’m 30). 3. while yes you can socialize in that setting, socializing isn’t the point; it’s to help the animals (I also have a strict rule about flirting with people at their work place or places like a gym where they’re not there to be hit on, they’re there for a specific reason)
Part 2, since I’m solution oriented- what unconventional meeting places would you suggest?
