I’ve been an agency recruiter for 10 years. I’m a single dad financially paying for everything for my daughter. I don’t live with her though and she lives with her mom 20 minutes away.

I’ve been making $90k-$130k for the last few years but this year I’m expected to make $100K. At age 30, I was expecting to make $200K+ but my company and the market has made some changes and it’s just hard to be a recruiter right now.

I love the flexibility my job provides, but it’s not fulfilling and I’m not seeing big pay bumps year after year. I do t want to spend another 10 years in the same position. I’ve thought about getting out of recruiting entirely and starting a business that is geared towards my passions (flavored water brand, creatine supplements, running clothing brand, actions sports drink, or anything related to outdoor activities or fashion)

I’m living paycheck to paycheck so getting an immediate higher base would be ideal ($75k currently)

I have $150k in my 401k, $40k in savings, and $20k in crypto. I have $3k in my bank account for emergencies. I’ve thought about starting my own recruiting firm or another startup business but I am cash broke and can’t go more than two months without income.

I’m afraid to take this leap or to stay in recruiting and continue the grind. I’m curious if any guys have been in my situation and any advice on how it worked out would be appreciated
