It seems like the 2000s was the peak of fatphobia, coming off the heroin chic nineties and before the body positivity movements that started in the 2010s.
I was watching this YouTube short (YouTube.com/shorts/AUjYsF0wyWE) where this girl talks about being terrified of being fat as a child and saw a lot of comments sharing similar experiences. Just a lot of young women talking about dieting in elementary school and what not. Given that the YouTuber herself was clearly never fat and was just a normal to skinny person, it seemed like there was phenomenon of young girls being terrified of becoming fat.
Curious if any guys here ever experienced such severe levels of fat phobia in the same or different way, especially in regards to self image, from growing up in that era?
