My(F30) bf(M33) of 6 months takes on the mindset that the world is out to get him whenever he is stressed. Every person who even looks at him oddly while he is stressed out is deemed an asshole and a problem. He hasn’t been violent, but I find these behaviors to be over the top responses to things we all go through. We all have moments of stress or lack or sleep or feeling hungry, but I try to not make my problem everyone’s problem when I am feeling this way. I grew up in a home where I had to constantly walk on egg shells. I really want to avoid this in my adult relationships. I’m worried too that over reactions to small stressors will lead to even worse reactions during bigger stressors and crises. Am I overthinking this by interpreting a poor stress response to be a significant character flaw?
TL;DR: boyfriend doesn’t handle stress well. Gets rude and irritable over small things. Isthis trait enough to reconsider this partnership?
