Independent women of AskWomen. How can partners treat you well or better?

  1. By being present, respectful, and supportive. A good partner listens, communicates honestly, and chooses kindness even during tough moments. It’s not about grand gestures it’s about consistency, patience, and treating love like a choice, not just a feeling.

  2. For me, it’s when you appreciate my independence rather than feel threatened by it. Sharing tasks equally, listening without judgment, and letting me be me makes the relationship feel supportive, not controlling.

  3. Respect that we might have differences of opinion on something, and that’s not always an invitation to debate or make me ‘prove’ myself, especially when it doesn’t affect your life.

There’s a time, place, and tone to playful debate. But do I really want to defend my preference for cleaning my house before a housekeeper comes? Do i really want to talk at length about why I prefer to take afternoon flights versus early morning ones?

No. Just let me do my thing and leave my the f*ck alone.

  4. By celebrating your success, listening to you, empathizing, helping (in anything), trying to cheer you up, trying to upgrade your life (not only monetarily)

  5. Honestly just respect my independence and don’t try to control me. Be supportive of my goals, show up when it matters, and treat me like an equal. Little things like listening, helping out without being asked, and actually caring go a long way.
