Hmmm good question. Maybe in the past, now I just work for the family business.
Pretty likely. People say looks don’t matter but first impression do, especially in interviews. Appearance plays a bigger role than people admit.
I don’t think it did really. My friend recently remarked how my style hasn’t changed at all since we were 15, and I have to say she’s 95% right. I do my hair up instead of a braid. But I can’t tell if that has anything to do with jobs or not.
It definitely has. I don’t wear a lot of makeup and have sharp features, but dress well and am confident.
Random people always say they remember me, though I can’t usually remember them. Many boyfriends have said that they’ve never seen anyone like me and that I’m beautiful. That may be normal man shit. But I don’t follow social media much and it’s becoming more apparent to people. I stand out more since everyone is homogenizing.
I think I’m normal looking but just a little different due to my underlying ethnicity. I’m not a 10 or Cindy Crawford and half the time I look like a run over bag of dog shit.
But I have definitely been hired by men for how I look when I’m looking my best in an interview.
Not gonna lie, I bet my face mattered more than my CV, you can have killer skills but if they’re not sold on your look you’re toast
I believe how you carry yourself impacts hiring decisions.
I 100% think my appearance has helped me get jobs. Not to discount the fact that I’m qualified and competent – I am! But I think it helps that I have quite symmetrical features and my face suggests a quite pleasant/warm disposition, as well as generally being clean and decently put together. I think my appearance gives like competent but non-threatening lol
I’ve passed on candidates who nailed every test but had mugshots that screamed “I’d rather be anywhere else.”
