It’s starting to get warm in Palermo now… already 27° at 6am, this afternoon we should reach around 34-35°.
Later on I’ll head down to the beach. There will be a lot of people today, school has finished for nearly everyone now.
My husband clean-shaved his beard yesterday, which he doesn’t do very often, and I said his co-workers won’t recognize him on Monday. And he replied, of course not, I won’t go to work on Monday.
It’s a bank holiday and I forgot… again! I am hopeless. It literally says in the calendar. These small holidays just fly under my radar completely (at least I am not one of those PIs that make in mandatory for people to come to the lab on every holiday except maybe Christmas and Easter).
I was checking out Viggo Mortensen’s Wikipedia page because there was a film he starred in which I couldn’t remember, and it was written that he used to be friends with the Icelandic landscape painter Georg Guðni Hauksson until he died (way too young, poor guy) in 2011. I had never heard of this painter, so I looked him up. And I kind of really like it? [I must admit, they’re a bit bleak](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georg_Gu%C3%B0ni_Hauksson#/media/File:Georg_Gu%C3%B0ni_Untitled_2009_oil_on_canvas_78%C2%BE_x_70%C2%BE_inches_200_x_180_cm.jpg) but maybe that’s just what Iceland looks like.
I had the first strawberries from my garden. They’re not very showy but they’re very delicious. I only ever get 3-5 at a time, but still, it’s nice.
