Sausages: were they specifically invented in today’s Germany or did people across Europe independently come up with the idea of making sausages?

Hi all, we often think of Germany when someone mentions sausages in Europe. But did the land in what’s today Germany invent the sausage, or was it, as a meat product made by grind meat stuffed into casing made with pig or sheep or cow intestines or stomachs, invented independently all across Europe?
