Do you Europeans have any superstitions for the new year or don’t you believe in it?

Here in Brazil there are people who wear white clothes, eat lentils under the table, take baths in coarse salt, among others.

I would like to know if this is common in other countries or if they are more skeptical about the subject and simply don't believe it.
