I happen to be capable of remembering the name of the chief justice of the supreme court in Canada, Richard Wagner, mostly because he had the role of administrator. IE if the governor general, the viceroy of King Charles III, gets hit by a bus or if they resign (which is why he took over for a few months, the previous governor general was found creating a hostile work environment for her staff, pretty much the only kind of misconduct they are capable of doing other than maybe expensing things to her account that she should not have).

And I happen to remember the name of the previous chief justice, Beverly McCahlin, she served for 20+ years including when I was in school and was told what the court does. We happen to have one supreme court for all appeals and so that makes the courts simpler. I also know the governor general's name, Mary Simon, and of course the prime minister, the name of my provincial prime minister (premier to us), the mayor and my city councillor and a couple of other councillors whom I've met, and my member of parliament for both the national and provincial levels, most of the prime ministers who served more than a year, some provincial prime ministers, and the names of all the monarchs and both lord protectors going all the way back to the 10th century CE, but not a tremendous number of people beyond that. Most individuals don't matter.

Contrast with some countries where even backbench legislators are world famous as are their court judges.
