Abu Dhabi,36° at 10.30am…yes, it’s pretty warm here!
On the positive side,we arrived here after midnight so it was a little cooler then. And the hotel had no standard non-smoking rooms available,so they gave us a free upgrade and we got a very nice suite.
It’s nice to have a lot more space,a living room and a kitchen etc… though I wouldn’t pay 4x the cost of the standard room for it 😉
Today we are heading down to the Louvre,Abu Dhabi branch,on the bus… they have a good and inexpensive public bus system here. And the bus stops are also air-conditioned….
Read in the news today that in the US city of Phoenix, the maximum temperature was above 37 degrees for hundred days in a row. No idea if that is a world record, but I can not imagine living in such hell. Any Phoenixians around to tell us about it?
This week is the start of a new pinball league season for me, and it also feels like the season is changing because this is the second straight morning I’ve worn jeans rather than shorts. I might end up changing before I go out tonight.
The Abu Dhabi Louvre has a lot of interesting things to see inside, and the building itself is also something to see!
Like many of these places though, it’s too large and has too many objects to see on one visit…we spent 4 hours in there and had to be very selective.
We skipped over most of the European art and sculpture and focussed more on the Middle East, North Africa and some Asian exhibits, some of the photos and a couple of specialist rooms… they have a great navigation section with old scientific instruments, maps, globes etc.
