  1. Hello all! I’ve tried making a post about this but for some reason, my post wasn’t allowed.

What’s the best private healthcare facility in your country?

If you don’t know one but you know in other countries, it’s also acceptable.

The scenario is this : If I want to do a check-up or some tests in any country in the EU/EEA (healthcare tourism), where should I go?

    Thanks!

  2. Big earthquake today – only a magnitude 4.4 which is fairly mediocre by California standards (usually get several like that a year), but the epicentre was only about 10 km away so it felt a lot stronger. It’s the first one I’ve felt while being outside.

Somehow it was enough to burst a pipe at the city hall, but not knock over any of the precariously-balanced objects I had at home, including a makeshift card made out of a single folded A4 sheet of paper that always takes several attempts to put upright on my fridge.

  3. I’m in Eastern-Finland deep in the countryside, nearest +100 000 inhabitants city is like 150 km away as the crow flies. Meaning it’s proper dark here at night. Not middle-of-the-Sahara-dark, but still very little light pollution, as little as you can really get this south in Finland, which is maybe about 550 km south from the arctic circle.

And boy was it nice to be somewhere with little light pollution last night. I randomly looked up when I was out in the middle of the night, and there was the [most vivid northern lights you could hope seeing this south](https://imgur.com/a/Sm64ThJ), it was really incredible. And not only that, but last night also happened to be the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. The night sky was filled with northern lights and shooting stars.

  4. I still haven’t managed to find a horror podcast as good as The Magnus Archives. I tried a few, but somehow couldn’t get into them? Maybe it’s more about my headspace than anything else. I saw that r/nosleep has its own podcast, I might give that one a go. If you have suggestions, let me know.

Speaking of which, there is a small online event going on to narrate other people’s stories into, well, audio/pod-stories, I guess? I decided to give it a go, because, why not? I picked a friend’s short story that’s under 1000 words. It is actually rather nice? It’s very relaxing. Like many people, I also dislike hearing my own voice, but nevertheless it’s a fun challenge to make it into something that people will enjoy listening. I hope there will be lots of submissions of people with different accents, I think that’d be quite fun.

So, how does everyone here sound like? Is your voice deep/high/fruity/croaky/voicy ([I didn’t make them up)](https://www.reddit.com/r/coolguides/comments/zvym9w/words_that_describe_someones_voice/). Mine is basically high-pitched and a bit squeaky sometimes.

  5. Another ancient archaeological site today, not far from Phimai.. this one (Phanom Rung) is really out of the way,no public transport..came here by motorbike… and no other tourists either.

It’s another Khmer site, with a large and beautiful ruined Hindu temple in the middle.
