Here in Bulgaria the government was absolutely silent about this for more than a month after the accident. Everyone from the ruling side ate canned food and bottled water while the rest of the population was left to eat the green vegetables with no warning. They even allowed the 1st of May's parade that was mandatory for everyone, and on top of that – it was raining the entire day. All of the Geiger counters were suddenly taken for maintenance. Regular people have heard whispers from relatives and friends in the ruling positions and some of them managed to get some iodine pills. Several weeks later – the government announced on the tv that a "minor" accident has happened but everything was overblown.
So yeah, Bulgaria was probably the worst affected country in the accident. How about yours?
