I noticed in Europe many people don't seem to be bothered by personal space or huge crowds. A lot of beaches are packed to the rim to the point I wonder how it's enjoyable! In Florida for example, it's an unwritten rule to stand sit at least 5-15 meters away or you give them the stink eye.
One time I also visited this new local book store in Germany and people were packed like sardines, quite literally. As soon as I saw the crowds I ran away. Another example is that I was in the US in a hotel for breakfast. The whole dining room was empty and we sat in the corner. Then a Germanic couple came in and sat right next to us! (and they also kept staring lol)
